Board of Trustees: Dr. Linda Abraham-Silver
Dr. Linda Abraham-Silver became the second president and executive director of the Great Lakes Science Center on August 1, 2004. Prior to her appointment in Cleveland, Linda spent 13 years with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, an institution which attracts over one million guests annually to its three locations: the Natural History Museum in Exposition Park, the Page Museum at the La Brea Tarpits, and the William S. Hart Museum, most recently serving as the Vice President of Education and Guest Relations.
A California native, Linda received her undergraduate degree in Classics from UCLA, holds an MBA from Pepperdine University, and earned her doctoral degree in science education from the University of Southern California. She has published in the areas of constructivist learning theory in informal environments, evolution education, and the role museums play in providing authentic science education experiences, and has worked with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Science Foundation on projects that provide the public with greater access to science.
Linda is a graduate of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2006 and a member of In Counsel with Women. Smart Business Magazine recognized Abraham-Silver as a "Rising Star" in their 2005 Innovation in Business Awards and Kaleidoscope magazine honored her as one of their 2005 "Women Who Give Back". In 2005, Crain's named Abraham-Silver as one of Cleveland's "40 Under 40". She serves on the Boards of the Community Partnership for Arts & Culture (CPAC), Laurel School, In Council With Women, and is on the Visiting Committee for Cleveland State University.
Linda, her husband Brad, their daughter, Caroline (age 6) and son BJ (age 3) share their Shaker Heights home with the family's Great Dane, Scout.
